Build a database and have a flood of

cashed-up customers on-demand

What customer details to ask for on the sign-up form

So now you use your hook or free gift to get your customers interested in joining your database.

Ask every customer to write their details on a sign up form in exchange for the hook.

Do the same on your website if you have one.

Get these details...

  • first name
  • last name
  • birthday (so you can send them a present)
  • email address
  • mail address
  • phone number
  • sex (as in male or female - this will be important for later when you do gender-specific promotions like a special aromatherapy night for girls only, or a mens' retreat, and so on).

Advanced:

If you have a computerised point-of-sale system, get it to add each item they buy into their database record...

...so you can look at it all later and create customised promotions for specific products straight to the people who have brought similar products in the past.

Why you should ask for all those details

The reason to ask for all those details is so that you can do targeted promotions to them later.

You will be able to send specific messages only to specific people who will be interested in hearing about it.

For example, if you have some men's products, it would be better to send your message to men instead of women, right?

And if how special would people feel if you sent them a birthday card on their birthday?

How many other businesses go for that personal touch and feel with their customers, and remember their birthdays - that one day of the year that kinda "belongs" to the birthday person, when they want to be reminded that they are special just because they exist.

If you had that information in your database, you could send them something nice on their birthday - something inexpensive, but just to show that you care.
