So to get your database marketing strategy happening, here's what to do...
- Work out your hook - your free gift to give to your customers. Make it awesome - something that would get you excited if you were the person hearing about it.
- Work out how you are going to ask people to sign up.
For example, are you going to...
- meet them face-to-face at your business place, and get them to fill out a form?
- ask them for details while they book in, and type them straight into a computer?
- get them to leave a message on your phone with their details?
- get them to type their details on your website?
- Type and print out your sheets of sign-up forms, or get your phone message ready, or set up your website - put your plan into action.
- For every single person who comes into contact with your business, ask them to join your database in exchange for the free gift. Tell them what they will get in the future as well - eg, special offers, up-to-date information, etc.
Building a database is actually one of the easiest things to do.
And then you get the fun of working out how to make money with it later !
