Mailloop is also used by thousands of companies, and you don't have to keep paying for it, but it costs a lot to own the software.

Which is better?

I've used both types of solutions - paying each month and paying once up-front...

...and the major difference is simply that you feel you have more control over your private business information if you pay the full up-front cost to own the software, such as in the Mailloop scenario.

In the pay-monthly version, it's cheaper but they store your private customer database on their computer servers, along with the emails you will send out and so on.

I've never had a problem with it, but I always felt like I wasn't 100% sure what was going on with it.

So now I only use software that I have full control over, and that works for me.
