You don't have to offer money, although that often works well.

Some partners just want to do it for fun, some just want you to advertise their business in return, some want a share of the cash, and so on.

Everyone is different, so just make an offer than see how they react - if they are not enthusiastic, ask them what they want and decide if you can give it to them.
