Whitsunday Times - newspaper

Circulation: 7,000 in a tight-knit community

Note: The results from this small newspaper of 7,000 readers were the same as the results from the large Townsville Bulletin newspaper of 100,000 readers. So whether you live in a small or large place doesn't seem to matter much.

These guys printed my press release virtually word for word - which was basically the words from my advertising poster and sales letter !

The first article basically sold heaps of tickets to my seminar, and made me lots of money.

I love that newspaper editor and the team at that office !

But I've also used those articles so many times in subsequent marketing that it's not funny.

Especially the follow-up article where the newspaper publicly quotes and confirms that my customers thought my product and service were awesome.

That article is gold, built my brand and reputation for me, and has made my life so much easier!

Follow-up article after the seminar

A follow-up article after the seminar to build brand awareness for future events.

To get this, I simply rang the same reporter who printed up my press release in the 1st article, and explained that her readers were probably keen to know how the seminar went.

She ummed and aahed for a few seconds, then said "yeah, ok" and said she would come around with a camera and notepad.

As soon as she got off the phone, I quickly called up 2 of the attendees who had been a lot of fun to chat with during and after the seminar, and invited them to "come be in the newspaper photo and say some cool stuff about my seminar - it'll be fun!"

They agreed, and came to the photo shoot at the resort location where we held the seminar.

They told good stuff about my seminar to the newspaper girl (their quotes are in the article).

Plus we got free drinks from the resort where we held the seminar, because we needed to look relaxed and luxurious for the photo, and the resort manager thought we were great for helping to promote the resort indirectly, so she ordered the bar guy to make up drinks for us.

Awesome!
