Picture resources I have used and recommend
Upgrade your professional image,
using the best photographers in the world,
for just $1...
or even for FREE
You can really impress your readers and create a professional look that is 1000% higher than you would by using no pictures at all, or normal pictures you took yourself.
For example...
Pictures of atomic energy
You could spend all day trying to make a picture representing atomic energy, and it would still look like a kid's drawing:
Or you could pay $1 for this:
Want a picture of water?
Here's the best I can do myself...
But I can just pay $1 for this...
Pampering products
Similarly, you could get out your camera and try to take photos of pampering stuff like I did here...
Or you could pay $1 for this...
Basically, on the internet you have access to the best photographers in the world, for $1 per pic, or even for FREE.
But I have found that it is almost ALWAYS better to pay for your photos than take the free ones.
Why?
Because the paid ones are from the world's top photographers, who make a living from their art, so it HAS to be top-notch.
The free ones are usually from quack amateurs or holiday people, and you can tell just by looking at them that they aren't that good - the colours are washed out, etc. You don't want that kind of stuff in your business unless you are really desparate.
They have links to images in the public domain (which means free for anyone in the public to use).
And many individual users upload their own images to Wikipedia for everyone to use.
The quality is the same as for GeekPhilosopher.com, shown above.
Photos are average, or crap... usually.
And the list of free photo sites provided usually don't have much of a range to offer, particularly on specific subjects like yoga, well-being, massage, etc...
Be careful with the copyright when using images from this site - it is sometimes questionable whether the user who uploaded the pic actually owned the copyright.
Many of the free sites listed don't tell you where they got their photos from, and have no information on the copyright or licensing involved.
Yotophoto is the first internet search engine for finding free-to-use photographs and images.
Be careful to check the license on each photo before you use it, because some of them are not in the public domain (ie, not free to use and could still be owned by someone else who wants to be paid copyright fees).
But it seems that most of the photos are free.
I've only just found this site, so I can't say too much about it.
Except that it's pictures are not as high quality as on the $1 paid sites found below, and the range is nowhere near as large or varied.
Photos don't have as much power in them - they don't affect you as much as the paid ones below.
Pictures are a bit amateur looking, colours are a bit washed out.
But still, if you are really strapped for cash, this is a great resource.
This is the ULTIMATE resource for professional images, and the one I use the most.
The photos are HOT... have a look and you will be instantly impressed with the sheer quality, artistic concepts and the enormous variety.
Examples:
You WILL find what you are looking for in the enormous Fotolia.com collection.
And they cost just US$1 per photo!
Can you afford $1 ?
I mean, you could buy 20 emotionally-powerful, crystal-clear, vibrant colourful photos from world-class photographers that speak the exact message you want to convey to your audience...
...for just US$20 (about $27 AUD).
But usually you only need 1 to 3 good photos in a promotion.
Downside is you must purchase blocks of US$15 worth of 'credits' at a time, then you can exchange those credits whenever you want for the photos you need.
So I have paid my US$15 and only chosen 3 photos at the start, keeping $12 worth of credits for later.
But I have always gone back and ended up using all the credits and having to order more, because there are always more promotions you need to do in your business.
I use these guys ALL the time.
Most of the photos on this website and my other website come from Fotolia.com
How to use the site:
Just go to the site, and type in the type of photo you want in the search box.
Example, type:
yoga
massage
tai chi
beach
tree
etc...
The site will then bring up heaps of different photos for you to chose from.
When you've found the ones you want, click the "Buy Now" button and go from there.
