Recruiting a team to help out with the numbers

After we got the commitment from our sponsors to supply us with all the cash and gifts, we realised that this promotion was going to be really big...

...and we had to do something drastically different to last time.

There was no way 2 people would be able to sign up 1000 people each in just 2 days.

We wanted a database with 2000 customers on it before we would start using it seriously to make money.

Based on our previous performance, where the 2 of us were able to get 200 emails in one day, we realised that in order to get 2000 emails in 2 days, we needed a team to help us out.

So we emailed our small database of 400 people, plus asked friends and put a few posters up... asking if anyone wanted to work on a fun project for 2 days.

We offered just AUD $12 per hour, plus a cash bonus if they achieved 200 signups each per day.

5 people came on board - 4 hot chicks and 1 super-cool guy.

If they got 200 signups each per day, we would achieve our 2000-strong database within the 2 days.

 

Why you need to get hot chicks

The reason we got hot chicks, besides the obvious, is because everyone responds well to hot chicks, and will most likely sign up...

...but not everyone responds well to guys, and not everyone responds well to middle-aged or old women.

The reason airlines, hotels and retail shops employ young beautiful women is because most people like pretty young women compared to other types of people.

And when your cash and time are on the line, you need every weapon you can get in order to succeed.

So if you want to succeed in promotions, you do like everyone else...

...you get hot, gracious, polite, young women on your team who love your concept and want to work for you.

 

What we did to prepare

We printed up some cheap white shirts with our soon-to-be business name "Unleash".... (as in, "Unleash the Party Within" - that was our slogan! )

And we photocopied heaps more of our signup sheets, and bought 5 clipboards and 10 pens.

We met up with our team the day before the promotion at a classy, beach-side cafe, and handed out the T-shirts.

We explained what we wanted them all to say, and what information we needed them to get from each new customer - their email address, name, age and gender.

We had a Question & Answer session, and cleared up any confusion or concerns from our team members.

The team meeting took only half an hour.

We rang around the local media-hire outlets in the Yellow Pages phonebook, and found the cheapest video-camera and sound hire place. We booked a professional video camera, microphone, boom stick, film for the camera, and other "film media" stuff I didn't really understand.

Last, we visited the supermarket and bought yummy juice, softdrinks and snacks for our team, and put it in an esky and covered it in ice.

That's basically it.

Nothing too complex.

Everything was pretty easy to do, and it was all ready in a short time.
