I buy books every now and then.

If I am thinking of buying a certain book that I haven't read before, I will go to www.Amazon.com - the world's largest online book store.

There, I will read what other customers thought of the book, plus some sample pages from inside the book, look at the overall rating it's been given by customers and reviewers, then make a decision.

Then I'll usually go down to my local bookstore and buy it there.

I don't buy it from Amazon.com

I buy it from my local book store.

 

 

Example #2

Let's say you sell crystals for healing.

Most people will look at their pictures on your website, but won't buy them straight off your website.

Why?

Because they need to touch and feel them.

Customers still need to experience your physical product before they will spend, unless they already know what it is (a favourite book, for instance), and they are comfortable with buying online (about 10% of the population).

But with your crystals, what the customers can do is...

  • see your range
  • get your expert advice (eg, by email from the website)
  • make a decision in their minds whether you personally sound like the kind of person or business that they want to buy from....

You might have a link where they can contact you with a difficult question about a certain crystal, and you can reply by email or phone to give them the info they require, demonstrating your expertise and professionalism.

Once they've gone through some kind of process like that, and they are ready to buy, they will most likely come and visit your physical location, money in hand.

Then you simply close the sale.
